Client terms and conditions

  • If a client requires their Purchase Order to be included in invoices, that PO must be supplied before work begins. Delays in supplying a PO will result in delays in delivery. If clients do not use a PO system, our quote should be approved in writing.
  • In some cases, we may require an upfront payment before work begins. This will be made clear during negotiations.
  • We will invoice at the point of delivery. Invoices must be paid within 30 calendar days after which UK government statutory interest applies. Interest is charged at the Bank of England rate plus 8 points. We will also charge a statutory fixed sum for the cost of recovering a late payment under UK late payment legislation. Those sums are: up to £999.99 – £40; £1,000 to £9,999.99 – £70; above £10,000 – £100. We also reserve the right to charge debt collection agency fees of 20 per cent to recover late payments.
  • Clients are entitled to a 30 calendar day verification period with two rounds of amends after which charges of £135 an hour apply.
  • Where an hourly rate is charged, the minimum charge is one hour.
  • We assign text copyright to clients irrevocably, perpetually and worldwide on full settlement of our invoice. Different rules apply to music, voiceovers, stock imagery, infographics, animation and illustration. Our standard music and voiceover fees do not cover paid-for advertising. Please let us know if you intend to distribute animation and video on paid-for channels and we will let you know the extra charge.
  • For stock photography, we buy a royalty-free licence from the stock library, which we assign to clients. This allows use for the purpose intended only.
  • In the case of infographics and animation, we assign copyright for the deliverable specified, but not the underlying or background IP (“project files”).
  • Copyright on illustration is usually retained by the artist and we grant a limited licence only. This will be specified in individual cases.
  • From time to time, our writers will quote sources in the public domain, such as data and research by financial or government institutions. Those sources will be acknowledged with a footnote and a link to the source. As a rule, we will not have sought permission for that use. If a client is uncomfortable with using such sources, we can substitute them, or clients may wish to generate their own data.
  • We make every effort to check the accuracy of our work, but we ask clients to also check to the best of their abilities that everything is correct.
  • Clients agree not to poach our writers, filmmakers and designers without our permission.
  • All discussions with clients are confidential and we will not disclose them without permission or unless they are in the public domain. We will respect clients’ intellectual property and confidential materials as they should ours.
